A great juice shot!
02/08/2007 by maria_capelli.
I came across a great juice shot recipe the other day. It is absolutely dee-licious! It’s rich in anti-oxidants and has loads of vitamin C to boost (50% of your recommended daily allowance.)
Juice one apple, 2 carrots, 2 strawberries and 1 cherry for each shot.
Enjoy!

Gerson Therapy
01/05/2007 by maria_capelli.
It never ceases to amaze me that there are so many benefits from juicing. There are a couple of articles about Gerson Therapy at http://juicers.organic-knowledge.com/articles_1.html. It seems that a Dr Max Gerson discovered that patients with cancer and other degenerative diseases recovered or showed a marked improvement when they were given superdoses of fruits and vegetables. Now the thing was, the daily quantities of fruit and veg were so high that patients would be unable to eat the required dose. The only way was to drink the pure juice without the pulp mixed in.
Now you’ve got to remember that the therapy requires you to drink this juice thirteen times per day! That’s a lot of juice and juicing! Seems that only a couple of juicers are suitable: a Norwalk and a Champion. This is because the fruit & veg need grinding into a pulp that is then pressed into juice. And what you get is the best possible juice with maximum enzymes, nutrients, etc.
Anyway, even if you don’t juice with one of these machines, you KNOW that you are doing your body a world of good and warding off all sorts of illness and disease.
Keep with the juicing. Let me know any recipes that are good for specific illnesses or diseases. And let us all now more about the Gerson Therapy if you’ve been on it.
Ciao,
MariaC.

Some favourite recipes
01/05/2007 by maria_capelli.
It’s nice to know that this blog is being read (thank you, Ben! ;-)). Here are a few of my favourite recipes:
o Juice a handful of strawberries or raspberries with a handful of cranberries and one or two oranges and half a lemon. Try varying the quantity and blend of each ingredient.
o Juice 8 carrots and 2 or 3 apples. This has a great taste and is full of really good nutrients. In fact, this is good for Gerson Therapy (see my post on Gerson).
o Juice one grapefruit and one apple. You can also add a little ginger to give some extra spice!
o Juice one orange, three apples, one lemon and three pears. One of my favorites!
Please post a comment showing some of your favorites!

Back from Christmas! ;-)
12/27/2006 by maria_capelli.
Wow–Christmas really overwhelmed me–all the preparations, buying presents, getting the food in. You know the deal! Anyway, the blog took a bit of a hit so I will try to be better. It’s just so hard at this time of the year, as I’m sure you are well aware. And since there aren’t any replies to my posts, I’m not sure anyone is out there reading this. :-( Please let me know if you are….
The most interesting thing I saw about juicing this week was a study that showed that people who drink at least 3 glasses of juice a week are 76% less likely to get Alzheimer’s disease. This falls rapidly to 16% for those that drink 1 or two glasses a week. Certainly shows the importance of drinking fresh juice–and it makes me really glad to know my family is well protected since we often hit double-digits of glasses of fresh fruit juice! It reminds me about how much you are supposed to drink when you are on the Gerson Protocol. But more about that tomorrow.
Time to go ice-skating! Have a great holiday period,
Maria.

Organic fruit puree juices
12/12/2006 by maria_capelli.
I was talking to some other mothers yesterday while picking the children up from school and it really amazed me what rubbish some parents give their children. Case in point was the preference for commercialized juice–the stuff that gets advertised all the time on TV, squarely aimed at kids since it’s on in the afternoon and early evening. This stuff is junk! It’s full of sugar and additives. What’s wrong with providing organic fruit puree juices? You can buy this in the shops and it’s 100% natural fruit juice. But why not make it at home. All you need is a juicer from http://juicers/organic-knowledge.com, a supply of fruit and/or vegetables and you can make the most deliciously healthy and tasty juice whenever you want it. And because it is fresh, it really does taste a whole load better.
Let me know your thoughts on this.

Welcome to my juicing blog!
12/06/2006 by maria_capelli.
I am new to blogging, so please forgive me my mistakes(!) I have started this blog on http://juicers.organic-knowledge.com for two reasons:
1) because I am interested in learning about blogging, especially as a way to give me some sanity from the pressures of looking after two young boys
2) I have become passionate about the value of juicing since I have seen some of the benefits my family have experienced since juicing.
I will try and post something most days: experiences, recipies, thoughts, etc. I would really love it if you could comment or post your own items on this blog. What a great way to build a like-minded community of friends!
Your friend,
Maria Capelli
